Jake Solo 2008 - Back to Vaudeville & Music Hall

For the last couple of years Jake has been augmenting his solo reportoire of original songs with a new reportoire of Old Time Music Hall and American Vaudeville songs. His monthly gigs at The Camel in Bethnal Green feature the songs of Harry Champion , Gus Elen, Al Bowly, Sir George Robey and Vesta Tilly. We then cross the Atlantic for tin pan alley , Blues and Vaudeville from the likes of Emmet Miller, Nick Lukas and Ukulele Ike. Each month features a different theme ( previous themes have included death, journeys , Cockney knees up and Love ). If you've seen his major chicken show you'll love his rendition of Tiptoe Through the Tulips and his take on classic novelty songs of yesteryear.

8th March - Ukulele Workshops at The Barbican with ' The Duke of Uke ' shop. The event culminates in an 80 strong ukulele performance

9th March -Duke of Uke Salon at The Horse & Groom.

23 March - Hula Bluebirds & The Lei Aloha Dancers & The Dulwich Ukulele Club present a day of free workshops and performance - starts 11am and all indoors at the Royal Festival Hall

24 March- The Windy Workshops are on all day at The Royal Festival Hall  from 11am till 3pm

5 July - Jake solo at 'The Camel' 277 Globe Road E2, Bethnal Green from 8.30pm . Free Entry and lots of musical silliness as well as tunefullness will be on the menu

12 July - Eistedford Festival in Llangollen North wales with The Pierrotters

1 Nov - Jake solo at ' The Camel ' 277 Globe Road E2, Bethnal Green from 8.30pm on and free to get in. This months gig is of a nautical nature with lots of Rodger the Cabin Boy and Master Mates shenanigans

13 Dec - Jake solo at ' The Camel ' 277 Globe Road E2, Bethnal Green from 8.30pm on and free to get in. Tonights theme is 'Christmas on Christmas Island' songs of far away places and exotic climes to keep the frost away. Expect mad dogs and englishmen as well as the old bazaar in Cairo.
